DCPS Clearance Process
The DCPS clearance process is for mentors who have already completed a CEO program mentor application, been contacted by CEO Program staff, and selected as mentors.
If you have an active secret or top secret federal security clearance please complete the federal security clearance verification letter in lieu of the Background Check Form, as you will not need to be fingerprinted.
For everyone else, the steps of the clearance process are listed below.
- Complete the DCPS Volunteer Application/Background Check Form.
You can do this prior to coming to DCPS Central Office for fingerprinting, or you can complete it when you’re here in our office (computer stations are available for that purpose). This application is different from the CEO Program Mentor Application and is a requirement for all DCPS Volunteers.
- Complete a tuberculosis (TB) test with a physician.
The test must have been taken in the past 12 months and the results must be negative.
- Bring the application, current TB test result and a state issued photo ID to our office where you will be fingerprinted.
We process and fingerprint volunteers on a walk-in basis from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. (Other times can sometimes be arranged if we are notified ahead of time.)
