DCPS Clearance Process

The DCPS clearance process is for mentors who have already completed a CEO program mentor application, and have been notified by CEO staff of their selection as a mentor.

In order to be cleared to volunteer with DCPS, you will need to follow the steps outlined below.  Unfortunately, we are unable to make exceptions to these requirements.

  1. Complete and save the volunteer application. You must complete the application in one sitting. Please allow yourself at least 15 minutes and have all program contact information available.
  2. Complete TB Risk Screening Assessment in clearance application. The clearance team will reach out to you if you are required to submit a TB test.
  3. Complete Finger printing. As the DCPS Clearance Office is currently closed for services, we have partnered with FieldPrint to offer remote fingerprinting services. Please use the instructions provided via email from DCPS Clearance to schedule and complete a FieldPrint appointment. As a reminder, you must use the DCPS appointment code provided within those instructions to complete this process. 

You will receive a verification email 5-10 business days after being fingerprinted. This email will contain your DCPS volunteer clearance letter, which is valid for 2 years. Please submit this letter to CEO program staff as proof of clearance and keep a copy for your records. You are not permitted to volunteer without the volunteer clearance letter from DCPS. In cases where background checks require follow up, you will receive additional information by mail from the Office of Compliance.
